Engineered Ceiling Support System for a Fortune 100 Corporate Campus
G-STRUT Support from Distributor to Jobsite
During construction of a new corporate headquarters campus for a fortune 100 company, the project team faced a familiar challenge: how to support a dense network of lighting, HVAC, and data systems—without compromising installation speed or architectural finish. Working closely with our distributor and the end user, the team developed a custom engineered ceiling support system using G-Strut metal framing to meet both performance and design requirements.
With multiple trades working overhead and tight project timelines, traditional field-cut support systems would have introduced inconsistencies, added labor, and slowed coordination across the build. The solution required a system that could streamline installation while maintaining the clean, intentional design of the space.
Engineered for Integration and Efficiency
To meet these demands, the project team implemented a custom engineered ceiling support system using G-STRUT® metal framing components and tight-tolerance precision roll-formed strut channel.
Key features of the system included:
- Custom engineered grid design tailored to the building layout
- Manufactured-to-length (MTL) channels for jobsite-ready installation
- White double powder-coated finish for architectural integration
By utilizing manufactured-to-length G-STRUT® strut channel, held to a 0”/-1/8” tolerance, the system arrived precision-cut and ready to install—eliminating field modification. This tight tolerance reduced the risk of the system falling out of square during installation, improving speed, reducing labor, and ensuring consistent alignment across the ceiling grid.
At the same time, the double white powder-coated baked finish allowed the support structure to visually disappear into the ceiling plane—an important consideration in a space where exposed building systems contribute to the overall architectural aesthetic. Beyond appearance, the coating also enhances resistance to corrosion, wear, and jobsite handling, supporting long-term durability and aesthetics.
Supporting the Systems Behind the System
While designed to blend seamlessly into the background, the role of the support system is anything but secondary. These engineered strut channel systems carry the critical mechanical, electrical, and data networks that power modern workplaces—supporting lighting, climate control, and the digital infrastructure businesses rely on every day.
In environments where coordination between trades is essential, a precisely engineered strut grid built from high-quality strut channel helps reduce installation conflicts, maintain layout consistency, and keep projects moving on schedule.
Built for the Infrastructure That Keeps America Running
From corporate campuses to data centers, systems like these form part of the physical infrastructure that enables businesses to operate, scale, and serve millions of people across the country. Performance, reliability, and installation efficiency at this level directly impact how quickly facilities come online—and how effectively they perform over time.
G-STRUT® Strut Channel is proudly manufactured in the United States, supporting domestic steel production while delivering the consistency, availability, and engineering precision contractors depend on.
