A major high-rise hotel project in Nashville required a dependable support system for its vertical piping and other critical mechanical systems. Gregory Strut supplied a framework solution featuring seismic riser clamps, manufactured-to-length strut channel and seismic braces designed to help the building’s MEP systems withstand movement and dynamic forces.

Within a high-rise, long vertical pipe runs must remain supported while accommodating thermal expansion, vibration and normal building movement. G-STRUT® seismic riser clamps secured the piping while allowing controlled movement, helping reduce stress that could otherwise lead to misalignment, damaged connections or premature system failure. Gregory’s seismic guidance recommends properly guiding and anchoring vertical risers to maintain pipe stability while providing horizontal and vertical seismic restraint.

Seismic braces provided additional lateral restraint throughout the piping system. Working with the riser clamps and strut channel assemblies, the braces helped control transverse and longitudinal movement during a seismic event. This coordinated approach protects piping, ductwork, conduit and other suspended equipment rather than relying on standard supports designed primarily for gravity loads.

Manufactured-to-length G-STRUT® channel also improved installation efficiency. The channel arrived shear-cut to the project’s required dimensions, reducing field cutting, measurement errors, material waste and installation time. Precut and labeled bundles allowed crews to begin assembly immediately while maintaining consistent tolerances across the project.

G-STRUT® Seismic components are engineered for use in bracing assemblies designed in accordance with ASCE 7-16, with final compliance dependent on project-specific engineering and installation. Manufactured in the USA, G-STRUT channel, fittings and seismic components give contractors a complete support solution built for demanding commercial construction environments.
