Veteran’s Fence Uses Heavy C-POSTs for a Wood Fence Installation
Gregory Fence's Heavy C-POSTs were driven at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds to serve as the framework for a new wood fence installed by Veteran’s Fence. The crew used a streamlined method that pairs steel fence posts with standard wood fence construction.
The installation sequence is straightforward: drive the C-POST, align ripped 2x4 boards on each side of the post, screw the boards into place, then fasten the rails and outward-facing pickets directly to the ripped lumber. The steel post becomes the structural backbone, while the ripped 2x4s provide a clean attachment point for a traditional wood fence build.
This is where the C-POST profile matters. Unlike a round steel fence post, the flat surfaces of the C-POST give crews a direct fastening plane for the ripped 2x4s, making it easier to pin nail the wood into place from multiple angles. With a round post, that same approach would be much harder to execute in the field.

Heavy C-POST was selected for this project to provide added rigidity across more than 10000 feet of fence line. As the middle profile in Gregory’s C-POST lineup, between Standard C and Super C, Heavy C gives contractors a strong balance of drivability, strength, and structural performance for demanding wood fence applications.

Heavy C features a .121-inch wall thickness, 2.25" × 1.70" outside dimensions, 50,000 psi minimum yield strength, and strong beam load performance, making it well suited for longer fence runs where added stiffness and post strength matter.

For fence contractors, the advantage is straightforward. This approach pairs the strength of driven steel fence posts with the familiar process of building a wood fence, giving crews a durable foundation without sacrificing the clean, traditional look of a finished wood installation.
Veteran’s Fence is based in North Royalton, Ohio, and is a preferred C-POST installer. The company has served Northeast Ohio since 2016, building residential and commercial fences and outdoor products.
